·        QLD U15 Team to compete in Caloundra, QLD from the 2nd – 7th of October, 2012
·        QLD Open Team to compete in Sydney, NSW from the 25th of August - 1st of Sept 2012

City of Brisbane Badminton Championships 2010

This year, the City of Brisbane Badminton Championships will be held on 22-23 May 2010 at Calamvale Community College. Entries close next Tuesday 11 May 2010. Click here if you would like to enter the tournament or after more information.
 
 
Top results at U17 Nationals
 
David Ngiam (pictured left) was our sole representative at the recent U17 Nationals held in Perth at Easter. Whilst Queensland did not have a team at the event, David made the trip to play in the individual event. Unseeded David made it through to the final of the Boys Singles. Along the way he managed to beat the No 1. Seed in the semi-final. David will be in action at the City of Brisbane Badminton Championships.
 
Queensland Open Team Nominations
 
The Queensland Badminton Association is currently seeking nominations for those wishing to be selected in the team. Nominations are now available. To be eligible, your membership must be current and endorsed by the BBA. If you would like to nominate, please return your completed form to info@brisbanebadminton.org no later than Wednesday 19th May 2010. Click here to see the Nomination Form and the Selection Policy.
 
Entertainment Books
The Queensland Badminton Association is selling Entertainment Books again this year. The from the sale of the Entertainment Books will help fund to send Queensland Junior Badminton Team to the National Championships.  If you are interested in purchasing an entertainment book please contact Andrew.greenway@hotmail.com
 
Monday Night Doubles
 
The BBA runs a regular Monday night doubles comp for members. It is held at Sunnybank Hills State School, Symons Rd, Sunnybank Hills commencing at 7.15pm. If you’d like to improve your game, why not come along and play against some different players. Bookings are essential. Dates are 10 May 2010, 17 May 2010, 7 June 2010, and 21 June 2010. Courts for Hire
 
Are you and a couple of your friends interested in hiring a badminton court. We have 2 courts for hire at Sunnybank Hills State School, Symons Rd, Sunnybank Hills on 5 May 2010, 12 May 2010, and 19 May 2010. The cost is $10 per court per hour or $18  per court for 2 hours.  Courts are available 7.15-9.15pm. Contact andrew.greenway@hotmail.com if you would like to book a court. This offer is only available to QBA members.
 
Thomas and Uber Cup Finals
This Sunday sees the start of the Thomas and Uber Cup Finals held in K.L. Malaysia. The Australian Team has qualified for both the Thomas and Uber Cup after beating NZ in Oceania qualifier. Both the Mens and Womens Teams have very difficult pools which will make it difficult to progress past the pool stage. You can follow the progress of the Aussies by clicking on the logo on the front page.
 
 Queensland Junior Championships 2010
 
QBA will be holding the Queensland Junior Championships at Inala PCYC, Swallow St, Inala on Sunday 27 June 2010. Entry forms will be available later this week. Look on www.brisbanebadminton.org or www.qba.net.au later in the week for the entry forms.

Qld Open - Lucky Draw Winner

The BBA is pleased to announce that Howard Tsang was the winner of the Lucky Draw at the Queensland Open held 2 weeks ago. The prize winner was determined from the first 50 players who played in 3 events and entered and paid on time. Howard wins $50 worth of Badminton equipment from the Brisbane Badminton Association. Well done Howard.

Sunshine Coast Tournament
The Sunshine Coast Open will be held at the Sunshine Coast Badminton Centre on Saturday the 8th & Sunday the 9th of August 2009. Thank you all for participating in the Queensland Badminton Championships. We have the second largest number of competitors ever. We would like to welcome the 14 players from South Australia who have made the long trip to play in the event.

Please note on Saturday afernoon, there are still some BXD and B/CMD Consolation events still to be scheduled. These will scheduled throughout the afternoon

On Sunday afternoon there are still some CMS Consolation and BMD events to be scheduled.

The venue will be open at 7.55am on Saturday. Play is expected to be completed around 8.30pm
Sundays opening time will be 8.15am. Play is expected to finish on Sunday at around 8.30pm
Please arrive at least 15 mins prior to your scheduled start time.

All players must act as umpires throughout the day. You will need to bring someone (a friend) to umpire your match.

Please arrive at least 15 mins prior to your scheduled start time. A canteen and proshop will be in operation. Proceeds of the canteen go to the Queensland Junior Badminton Teams, so your support is greatly appreciated

2009 QLD Badminton Championships

The Queensland Badminton Championships will be held at the Calamvale Community College, Hamish St, Calamvale on the 18th & 19th of July 2009. The tournament will be held at the Calamvale Community Sports Centre, Hamish Street, Calamvale. Entries close Wednesday 8th July 2009.  More information about the tournament can be found on the entry form or by emailing info@brisbanebadminton.org.

 

The first 50 players that enter online (playing at least 3 events each) and pay there entry fees into the Brisbane Badminton Association bank account or send in a cheque will go into the draw for $50 of trading gear.

In order to play in this tournament you must be a current member of the Qld Badminton Association member or other State Association.  If you are not sure whether your Qld membership is current please send me a note and I will check for you.  If not sure of your grade please send me a note.
